Labourers

Responsibilities:
• Work safely and efficiently as a labourer in outdoor Pit and Quarry jobsites
• Responsible for personal safety, co-workers and general public
• Must be able to follow training and uphold safety protocols
• Communicate any irregularities in aggregate conditions to the Foreman
• Observe condition of tools and materials used to ensure company standards are met and promptly report any possible problem or defect
• Demonstrate a positive company image by acting politely, taking care not to disturb area outside the project limits
• Attend and participate in regular safety meetings and ensure company policies and government regulations are adhered to
Qualifications:
• Surface Miner Common Core certification is an asset, but will be provided.
• Maintenance background will be considered an asset
Must have own reliable vehicle.

Mechanic

Heavy Equipment / Truck Mechanic and Truck & Coach Technicians
Responsibilities:
• Work safely and efficiently as a mechanic on jobsites and at the BEI Shop
• Responsible for personal safety, co-workers and general public
• Must be able to follow training and uphold safety protocols
• Attend and participate in regular safety meetings and ensure company policies and government regulations are adhered to
Job Duties:
• Provide service support to various equipment
• Coach and assist operators with daily inspections and maintenance
• Monitor performance of equipment to maintenance requirements in a proactive manner
• Perform breakdown maintenance in an expeditious manner
• Perform physical work, sometimes outdoors including in extreme weather conditions
Heavy Equipment Mechanics require a basic knowledge of all mechanical systems, including:
• Diesel engines
• Gas engines
• Hydraulic systems
• Pneumatic systems
• Electrical systems
In addition, the person in this role is expected to:
• Have a basic understanding of computers
• Understand and apply mechanical principles
• Comprehend the condition of mechanical components for wear and/or defects
• Be committed to maintain trade standards and qualifications by staying current with product development and technology
• Identify and correct unsafe conditions
Other job requirements include:
• Current and valid drivers license with clean Driver’s Abstract
• Possession of basic mechanical tools
• Steel-Toes Boots
• Own Transportation
Requirements:
• Completion of a postsecondary program of study for maintenance and repair of heavy equipment, i.e. Heavy Equipment Technician, Motive Power Technician, Diesel Technician.

Concrete Structures

All applicants must:
– Be responsible for personal safety, co-workers and general public

Concrete Structures Foreperson:
– Must be able to oversee and lead a crew from project start to finish
– Must be confident at reading project drawings
– Must have experience in concrete formwork projects including forming, cutting, curing and coring
– Identifies crew skill sets and delegates tasks
– Valid G Class License and clean Driver’s Abstract
– Minimum 2 years experience in a supervisory role
Concrete Structures Formsetter:
– Must have experience completing a variety of job tasks involving concrete from excavation, grading, pouring, concrete finishing, general carpentry, framing, and formwork
– Job-site preparation experience
Concrete Labourer:
– Work as part of concrete team
– Ability to understand basics of quality control
– General lifting and moving of construction materials
– Clean-up of job-site and trucks, equipment and tools
– General construction labour duties

Quality Control Technician

The QC Field Technician will be responsible for supporting all aspects of quality control under the supervision of Project Managers or Site Superintendents.
Responsibilities:
• Inspect the quality of construction and construction materials (aggregates and asphalt).
• Monitor material placement and workmanship.
• Review documents and specifications.
• Maintain daily check list diary and site activities.
• Report any non-conformance concerns while on-site to management.
• Execute tests in the field or laboratory on construction materials to assess their quality.
• Prepare and collect Aggregates and asphalt samples for laboratory testing.
• Perform compaction testing by Nuclear Densometer.
• Concrete testing and casting samples for lab testing an asset
• Asphalt coring for thickness and material composition investigations (a must)
• Ensure accuracy of test data.
• Perform visual inspections of roadways,
• Participate at site lab meetings.
• Maintain equipment and laboratory in good condition.
• Maintain calibration of equipment.
• Maintain testing equipment.
Requirements:
• Proficient in MS Word and Excel.
• Teamwork oriented.
• Ability to work independently.
• Highly organized.
• Good physical condition.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Mobility to work out of town when needed.
• Available to work on different shifts and schedules (including nights, and weekends) as well as overtime as required.
• Knowledge of ASTM/CCIL/MTO LS testing procedures.
• Attention to detail and problem solving.
Other:
• Asphalt Paving or Construction Quality Control: 2 years (preferred)
• Material Sampling, Compaction and Coring: 1 year (preferred)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Schedule:
• 10 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
• Overtime and possibly weekends
License/Certification:
• CSA/CCIL Certification for Asphalt or Concrete (preferred)
• G class driver’s license (preferred)
